Congratulations on your pregnancy! This is such an exciting time for you. I am happy that you are interested in taking classes based on the Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth. Here is the information on the classes.
In Due Time Childbirth Classes
The Bradley Method® is founded on the principle that with the proper education and preparation, many women neither need nor want medical interference while giving birth. It is a system of natural labor techniques in which a woman and her coach play an active part. It is a simple method of increasing self-awareness; teaching women to “tune in” to their bodies to deal with the stress of labor. Instead of seeking to control the sensations of labor with distraction methods, the Bradley Method® encourages you to trust your body using natural breathing combined with relaxation.
The course of the program involves a series of classes, of instruction and discussion regarding relevant issues of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. These include prenatal exercises that condition and tone the body in preparation for birth; mindfulness in pregnancy and labor; nutrition and its effect on the growing fetus; stages of labor and how to work with each stage to produce the most efficient labor; medical interventions and how to avoid them when they are not needed; cesarean sections and how to avoid an unnecessary one along with options should one become necessary; breastfeeding and how to achieve a successful nursing relationship; and finally, the newborn and some ways to deal with his or her needs.
In addition, because labor coaching is paramount to the Bradley Method®, time is spent in each class learning and practicing coaching techniques. A thoroughly prepared coach knows what to expect in labor and is therefore better able to facilitate the laboring woman’s ability to birth normally. The presence of an effective labor coach not only reduces the need for medical interference, but it also increases the couple’s satisfaction with their birth experience.
The Bradley Method® is thorough and personal. My classes are limited in size so as to provide time for each couple’s concerns and input. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and bring water, a couple pillows, and your questions. I encourage full participation as this type of preparation produces not only the safest births and healthiest babies, but also the most exciting and satisfying birth experiences!
I hope you will join me for my next series of classes. The complete listing of dates and times along with other helpful information can be found below. If you need more information, please feel free to contact me at (978) 473-6316 or email me at induetimechildbirth@gmail.com.
